Virginia Dillon Murrin
January 24, 1926 - June 26, 2013
Arlington, VA-Virginia D. Murrin, for many years an executive and producer of the Opera Theater of Northern Virginia, died of Alzheimer's at Emeritus Home at Arlington on June 26. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1926, graduated from Boston University in 1948, and lived in Germany during tenure of five years at US Air Force headquarters in Ramstein and Wiesbaden. She joined the CIA in Washington in 1960 and worked there until 1979 as a staff intelligence analyst. It was in her retirement that she rose to become a producer, president and finally trustee of the Opera Theater.
Ms. Murrin played Tournament Bridge, was an expert skier, and served from 1997 to 2009 as a gym instructor for seniors.
She is survived by her husband of forty-six years, James E. Murrin of Arlington, two sisters, Ruth Stanton of Monroe, Louisiana, and Julia Wilson of Toronto, Canada, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Catholic Cemetery.
